What is PEX tubing?
PEX tubing is flexible tubing, much like a hose, that has uses in plumbing. It has been in use in Europe since the 60s, and made its way here in the 80s. It’s flexible, OK for drinking water, and has found several uses in indoor plumbing. It is more freeze-resistant indoors (not a big concern here in SC) but less so outdoors. If you get a hard freeze upstate, you might have less success using PEX outdoors in-ground. And you can’t really use it above ground, either. It’s very sensitive to UV light, so it can’t be exposed to the sun. So, ask your plumber if PEX tubing is an option on your next job.

Never heard of PEX, but I know we have PVC pipes for our sprinklers. In our last house, we had to have our plumbing replaced with copper tubing. This wasn’t cheap but it was worth it. Just curious, what is this most expensive home repair?
Supposedly a kitchen remodel or a swimming pool. At least the kitchen keeps its value.
